DESCRIPTION
Qarateren Ecotourism Complex is a project that beautifully merges a modern vision with the rich history of Karakalpakstan. Located near the picturesque Borshi Tau hills in the Taxtako’pir district, this project is a testament to our commitment to creating sustainable, culturally-rich destinations.
Our design concept is rooted in a deep understanding of the region’s unique heritage, particularly the six major tribes of the Karakalpak people: Mang’it, Keneges, Qipchoq, Qitay, Qong’irot, and Muyten. Our team undertook an extensive study to understand the unique history, culture, and social structure of each tribe. We believe this knowledge is crucial for creating a harmonious and functional space that honors the past while building for the future.
The master plan’s design reflects the spirit of these tribes:
  • Mang’it: We draw inspiration from their historical role as rulers, aiming for a design that embodies strength and elegance.
  • Keneges: The name signifies “counsel,” which is reflected in our collaborative approach to urban planning and community spaces.
  • Qipchoq: We honor their nomadic past by creating a design that flows organically with the natural landscape.
  • Qitay: Their history of trade and cultural exchange inspires spaces that foster interaction and connection.
  • Qong’irot: We celebrate their heritage in military and trade by designing robust and functional structures.
  • Muyten: Their legacy in animal husbandry and agriculture influences our focus on sustainability and a deep connection to the land.
The grand opening of the Qarateren complex, held on October 16, 2024, showcased our vision for this cultural gem. Visitors can climb a 272-step staircase to an observation deck for magnificent views of the landscape, a symbol of our project’s goal to connect people with the region’s natural beauty.
Our holistic approach to master planning involves an in-depth analysis of the area’s natural, cultural, and historical features. This process, coupled with close collaboration with local authorities and stakeholders, ensures our final design is a well-balanced concept that meets the needs of future users while protecting the environment. This project is a living example of how modern architecture can celebrate and preserve a nation’s vibrant heritage.
